TV Guide has scored the first image of action star Michael Jai White as ‘Bronze Tiger’ in a season 2 episode of ‘Arrow’. CW’s ‘Arrow’ first season seemed to solidify the ‘no powers’ unwritten rule among the shows creators, with the addition of characters like Black Canary (Caity Lotz) into the mix..will we see this rule change? Maybe not..
White is set to play Ben Turner an assassin that comes from an upper middle class black neighborhood in Central City. When he was only 10 years old, he saw a burglar attacking his parents, and he proceeded to kill the man with a kitchen knife. In an effort to control the rage inside him, Turner turns to martial arts (and eventually, crime). After some time, Turner decides to travel to the far East in order to finally come to terms with his demons. There, he meets the O-Sensei, and studies under him, together with later recruit Richard Dragon. The meeting between Turner and Dragon serves as the start of the series Richard Dragon, Kung Fu Fighter. Some time after they are approached by Barney Ling, from the organization known as G.O.O.D. (Global Organization of Organized Defense), and their (reluctant) working for Ling served as the basis for the Kung Fu Fighter series. The Bronze Tiger possesses no metahuman powers, but is a superb martial artist. He has bested notable martial artists such as Batman and fought Richard Dragon to a standstill.
That last sentence seems to answer the question for us…however will this history change when incorporated into the ‘Arrow’ universe? Remember the CW and the shows creators have turned things on their head before. Season 1 saw Tommy Merlin (Colin Donnell) NOT becoming the Dark Archer or Thea Queen (Willa Holland) being called Speedy in the pilot, but then the introduction of Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) or even Malcolm Merlin (John Barrowman) really being the Dark Archer…can you follow all that?
‘Arrow’ season 2 premieres October 9th, 2013 @8pm on The CW.
