Arrow – The CW

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance.

As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

The series stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.

Based on characters appearing in comic books and graphic novels published by DC Comics, ARROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Green Lantern,” “Brothers & Sisters”), Marc Guggenheim (“FlashForward,” “Eli Stone”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Warehouse 13,” “The Vampire Diaries”) and David Nutter (“Smallville,” “Supernatural,” “Game of Thrones”). Melissa Kellner Berman (“Eli Stone,” “Dirty Sexy Money”) is co-executive producer. The pilot was directed by David Nutter from a teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg & Marc Guggenheim, story by Greg Berlanti & Marc Guggenheim.

The Tomorrow People – New

They are the next evolutionary leap of mankind, a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities — the Tomorrow People. Stephen Jameson stands at the crossroads between the world we know and the shifting world of the future. Up until a year ago, Stephen was a “normal” teenager — until he began hearing voices and teleporting in his sleep, never knowing where he might wake up. Now, Stephen’s issues have gone far beyond the usual teenage angst, and he is beginning to question his sanity. In desperation, Stephen decides to listen to one of the voices in his head, and it leads him to his first encounter with the Tomorrow People — John, Cara and Russell — a genetically advanced race with the abilities of telekinesis, teleportation and telepathic communication. The Tomorrow People are being hunted down by a paramilitary group of scientists known as Ultra. Led by Dr. Jedikiah Price, Ultra sees the Tomorrow People as a very real existential threat from a rival species, and the outcast group has been forced to hide out in an abandoned subway station just beneath the surface of the human world. Trading in secrets, Jedikiah offers Stephen the chance for a normal life with his family and best friend, Astrid, if he will help in the struggle to isolate and eradicate the Tomorrow People. On the other hand, Cara, John and Russell offer Stephen a different type of family and a home where he truly belongs. Unwilling to turn his back on humanity or the world of the Tomorrow People, Stephen sets out on his own path — a journey that could take him into the shadowy past to uncover the truth about his father’s mysterious disappearance, or into an unknown future with THE TOMORROW PEOPLE.

The series stars Robbie Amell (“Revenge”) as Stephen, Luke Mitchell (“H20: Just Add Water”) as John, Peyton List (“Mad Men”) as Cara, Aaron Yoo (“Disturbia,” “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist”) as Russell, Mark Pellegrino (“Lost,” “Supernatural”) as Dr. Jedikiah Price, and Madeleine Mantock (upcoming “All You Need is Kill”) as Astrid. THE TOMORROW PEOPLE is from Bonanza Production Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions, FremantleMedia, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “Green Lantern”), Julie Plec (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Kyle XY”) and Phil Klemmer (“Political Animals,” “Chuck”), and co-executive producer Melissa Kellner Berman (“Arrow”). Danny Cannon (“Nikita,” the “CSI” series) directed and served as executive producer on the pilot, which was written by Klemmer.

First Look: Michael Jai White as Bronze Tiger on ‘Arrow’

Michael-Jai-White-as-Bronze

TV Guide has scored the first image of action star Michael Jai White as ‘Bronze Tiger’ in a season 2 episode of ‘Arrow’. CW’s ‘Arrow’ first season seemed to solidify the ‘no powers’ unwritten rule among the shows creators, with the addition of characters like Black Canary (Caity Lotz) into the mix..will we see this rule change? Maybe not..

White is set to play Ben Turner an assassin that comes from an upper middle class black neighborhood in Central City. When he was only 10 years old, he saw a burglar attacking his parents, and he proceeded to kill the man with a kitchen knife. In an effort to control the rage inside him, Turner turns to martial arts (and eventually, crime). After some time, Turner decides to travel to the far East in order to finally come to terms with his demons. There, he meets the O-Sensei, and studies under him, together with later recruit Richard Dragon. The meeting between Turner and Dragon serves as the start of the series Richard Dragon, Kung Fu Fighter. Some time after they are approached by Barney Ling, from the organization known as G.O.O.D. (Global Organization of Organized Defense), and their (reluctant) working for Ling served as the basis for the Kung Fu Fighter series. The Bronze Tiger possesses no metahuman powers, but is a superb martial artist. He has bested notable martial artists such as Batman and fought Richard Dragon to a standstill.

That last sentence seems to answer the question for us…however will this history change when incorporated into the ‘Arrow’ universe? Remember the CW and the shows creators have turned things on their head before. Season 1 saw Tommy Merlin (Colin Donnell) NOT becoming the Dark Archer or Thea Queen (Willa Holland) being called Speedy in the pilot, but then the introduction of Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) or even Malcolm Merlin (John Barrowman) really being the Dark Archer…can you follow all that?

‘Arrow’ season 2 premieres October 9th, 2013 @8pm on The CW.

Grant Gustin Confirmed as The Flash in ‘Arrow’!

Grant Gustin the Flash

He was one of the three rumored names the other week, now he’s confirmed – Grant Gustin is set to play DC superhero The Flash. The former “Glee” star will take on the role of Barry Allen/The Flash in three episodes of the second season of The CW’s “Arrow”.

One of those episodes late in the season will serve as a backdoor pilot for a potential new show focusing on the character. In this version, Allen is a Central City assistant police forensic investigator looking into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to his own past tragedy. The character, which will start out an “ordinary man” according to the show runners, is also a comic book fan boy and obsessed with Green Arrow’s actions.

The new season of “Arrow” launches on October 9th.

About Grant Gustin

During his high school years, Grant attended the Governor’s School for the Arts program in Norfolk, Virginia for Musical Theatre. He also went to Hurrah Players Incorporated which is a theatre organization in Virginia. In 2008, he graduated from Granby High School and went on to attend the BFA Music Theatre Program at Elon University in North Carolina for two years.1 He left school to take the role of Baby John in the Broadway Revival Tour of West Side Story, and performed with the tour from its opening on September 30, 2010 through September 23, 2011.

On November 8, 2011, he debuted on the television series Glee as Sebastian Smythe, an openly gay member of the Dalton Academy Warblers. Gustin won the recurring role of Sebastian, a promiscuous and scheming character, after “an exhaustive, weeks-long casting search”. He originally auditioned for a role as a tap dancer, but did not get the part. However, Ryan Murphy kept him in mind. He began filming the role early on Monday, September 26, 2011, after having finished his final West Side Story performance the Friday night before.

Gustin began filming A Mother’s Nightmare, a telefilm for the Lifetime network, in late May 2012. The project also stars actresses Annabeth Gish and Jessica Lowndes, and was shot in Canada.
On July 11, 2012, it was announced that Gustin landed the lead role in the indie film, Affluenza.
